Malappuram Municipality is located in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. Its history is closely connected with the administrative and political development of the region.

  • Formation of the district: Malappuram district was created on 16 June 1969. Malappuram town was selected as the district headquarters because of its central location and administrative importance.
